New York-Style Thin Crust Pizza

Ingredients
1  tablespoon  olive oil  
1    onion, chopped  
28  ounce  canned whole peeled tomatoes, drained & pureed  
1    sprig fresh thyme  
0.5  teaspoon  salt  
0.5  teaspoon  Freshly ground black pepper  
0.25  cup  extra virgin olive oil plus  
1  tablespoon  extra virgin olive oil, divided  
1  pound  pizza dough, divided into two balls  
0    cornmeal, for dusting  
0.5  cup  fresh basil leaves  
1  cup  freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano  
1  pound  mozzarella, sliced 1/4-in. thick  

Directions
  1. Place a small saucepan on the stove top. Heat 1 tbsp. olive oil over medium heat. Then, add the onion and garlic and cook until soft (about 3 mins.).
  2. Add the tomatoes, thyme sprig, salt, and black pepper and simmer for 20 mins. Then, remove the saucepan from the heat.
  3. Stir in 1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil, discard the thyme sprig, and reserve the sauce until ready to use.
  4. Place the dough onto a surface dusted with cornmeal. Use a lightly floured rolling pin to roll the dough to fit on the Crisper Tray (about 1⁄8–¼ in. thick).
  5. Brush the dough with 2 tbsp. olive oil. Spoon the sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a ½-in. border along the edges. Top the sauce with the basil leaves and then the Parmigiano-Reggiano and mozzarella.
  6. Place the Pizza on the Crisper Tray. Slide the Crisper Tray into Shelf Position 5. Select the Pizza setting (375° F/190° C for 20 mins.). Press the Start Button to begin the cooking cycle.
  7. When the cooking time is complete, slide the Crisper Tray into Shelf Position 1. Select the Pizza setting. Set the cooking temperature to 400° F/205° C and set the cooking time to 2 mins. Press the Start Button to begin the cooking cycle.
  8. When the cooking time is complete, cut the pizza into six slices and serve immediately.
